Infectious Diseases

The Most Common Infectious Diseases Globally

Infectious diseases cause major suffering and irritation for people around the world as they come uninvited due to silliest careless habits. However, even though the most common diseases are infectious, they can be prevented with modern medicine and healthy habits to keep the immune system strong. Diseases like AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis record the most number of deaths each year and so remain in the news. But there are many other diseases as well, which are equally fatal and need awareness for precautious measures. Here are some common infectious diseases which you need to know about.

Cholera

Cholera is a disease which is mostly caused due to consumption of contaminated water and unhygienic sanitary measures. It is most commonly found in India, Russia, and Sub-Saharic African regions. This disease is caused by the bacteria Vibrio Cholerae which causes fever and diarrhoea. The severe levels of Cholera can cause body cramps and vomiting as well. Due to these reasons, the body gets dehydrated, which can even cause death. It can be prevented with pure water consumption, liquid diets, and regular glucose dosages. Cholera

Dengue

Dengue is another waterborne disease which causes mild to high fever and sometimes death. The WHO reports over 50 million cases of dengue fever every year. It is caused by a female mosquito scientifically called Aedes Aegypti. Dengue is most commonly found in Asia and Africa is regions with poor drainage systems. Other symptoms of Dengue other than fever are body weakness, severe headaches, joint pains, and rashes.

Influenza

Influenza may seem normal in the early stages, but without proper care, it can become deadly really quick. It has been named as the worst epidemic in American history and was reported to cause over 500,000 deaths in Spain in 1918. Today with modern medicine, Influenza is not that much of a big threat but still needs proper medication and care. Symptoms of influenza include fever, weakness, sore throat, and headache.

Measles

measles Today due to modern medicine and vaccinations, Measles have been reduced to a huge extent the disease has not yet been eradicated completely. It is caused by a virus called rubeola which at first causes rash and fever, but in 4-5 days it can become a severe problem causing diarrhoea, pneumonia, and body infections.

Typhoid

Typhoid is another potentially fatal disease which is causes over 500,000 deaths every year. It is caused due to infectious water and food consumption. It is caused by Salmonella Enterica Serotype Typhi bacteria and can be diagnosed with blood, urine, and stool samples. Some of the symptoms of Typhoid include sudden fever, severe headache, appetite loss, and diarrhoea in some cases. Although all these diseases can be cured today with modern medicine, is it important for people to get their symptoms to check to prevent any severe stages of suffering.
